Alex's interest in health and fitness goes all the way back to his childhood. Enamored with the action heroes of the 80's and 90's, Alex trained in the martial arts for a number of years before embracing weight training. When Alex discovered Bruce Lee, he not only began in earnest to weight train in addition to the continued practice of the martial arts, but he was exposed to philosophy.
Alex received his undergraduate degree in history and philosophy and would go on to complete his master's degree in philosophy as well. Alex taught philosophy as an adjunct professor at a local college in addition to full time personal training. While not essential to the pursuit of health and fitness, philosophy guides Alex's approach to training clients.

Alex began his career as a personal trainer after graduating college. His first job was at a large commercial gym. After a few years there, he bounced between two high end fitness clubs in the area. In these first 8 or so years, Alex learned much about not only fitness, but how best to train clients.
Frustrated about what was and was not permissible by trainers in these health clubs, and with an opportunity to open his own gym, Alex opened Viking Fitness in early 2019. Given the space and freedom to train clients using any modality that works, and no longer being bound by the structure of corporate gyms, Viking Fitness has grown to become a gym guided by long standing health and wellness principles and an important part of the community.
